Pistons Guard Jordan Bone Secretly Completes College Degree as Mother's Day Gift, Gets Surprise Graduation
Damn it, this is cool.
Jordan Bone left Tennessee after an awesome junior season and was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in last year's NBA Draft. He was always such a fun player to watch and was just as good of a dude off the court.
And as a Mother's Day gift to his mom, he secretly worked throughout his rookie season — spent going back and forth between Detroit and the G League — to complete his degree from the University of Tennessee and graduate on-time. What an awesome story. Unfortunately, there was obviously not graduation ceremonies at UT this year, so the school helped Jordan out and surprised him and his mom again with a private graduation ceremony from Rick Barnes and Chancellor Donde Plowman.
I don't know that I'll ever love a team more than that group Barnes had with Bone, Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield. Those are all special guys and Tennessee fans were lucky to have them as well as lucky to have a leader who has developed such great players and people.
Congrats to Jordan on doing something so cool for his mom and I hope to see him have just as much success in the NBA as he did in Knoxville.
